    Contra Remix is back, with caller and DJ Noah Grunzweig!

    This is a queer loving space that supports the expression, exploration, and rejection of gender & sex identities. The terms used to identify partnered positioning in our dance are Larks and Robins.

    Community welcome and newcomers' lesson at 6:30; dance 7-10

    Admission: $6-$20 sliding scale

    Countercurrent will host a special MONDAY dance in CORVALLIS to celebrate the release of their new CD! The band includes Alex Sturbaum (guitar, accordion, vocals) and Brian Lindsay (fiddle, banjo, foot percussion, vocals). Pennsylvania caller Michael Karcher [formerly of Seattle] will call dances using gender-neutral terms.

    Masks will be required at this particular dance, for the safety and comfort of the musicians and callers, and due to the likelihood of dancers attending from out of town. Thank you for helping to keep our dance community safely dancing! For more information on attendance requirements and other precautions, please see our current COVID-19 policy here, to be further updated soon.

    SALEM Community Dance: The Pringle Creek Band w/Shell Stowell

    The Salem Folklore Community continues their First Thursdays Community Dance series in 2023. They will hold their next dance from 6:30 to 9:00 at the VFW Hall (630 Hood St. NE).  Masks and vaccinations recommended, but not required.  They hope to create a welcoming atmosphere for both new and experienced dancers, with circles, squares, and contras designed to foster success and fun for all.

    Shell Stowell will call. The Pringle Creek band will play.

    Admission is on a sliding scale, $5-10 per person, cash only at the door.

    Newcomer session at 6 pm

    Dancing 6:30-9:00 pm

    The Country Dance and Song Society Executive Committee is in town this week and they would like to meet local dance organizers so they can get to know the Portland dance community. This will be a great opportunity to meet with dance leaders and organizers from around the country and exchange ideas about how to grow and create even a better dance community.

    Please join us for brunch and a community meeting on Sunday October 22nd.
