The Salem Folklore Community continues their First Thursdays Community Dance series in 2023. They will hold their next dance from 6:30 to 9:00 at the VFW Hall (630 Hood St. NE). Masks and vaccinations recommended, but not required. They hope to create a welcoming atmosphere for both new and experienced dancers, with circles, squares, and contras designed to foster success and fun for all.
Laurel Thomas will call. The Pringle Creek Band will play.
Admission is on a sliding scale, $5-10 per person, cash only at the door.
Newcomer session at 6 pm
Dancing 6:30-9:00 pm

Contra Remix is back, with caller and DJ Noah Grunzweig!
This is a queer loving space that supports the expression, exploration, and rejection of gender & sex identities. The terms used to identify partnered positioning in our dance are Larks and Robins.
Community welcome and newcomers' lesson at 6:30; dance 7-10

Our Saturday night series at Fulton Hall continues! The Fiddle Hellions (Sue Songer, Betsy Branch, George Penk) will make music for us. William Watson will use gender-neutral terms.

We have a special event dance with talent from far-flung locations! The Faux Paws will play; George Marshall from Massachusetts will call.
