    The Salem Folklore Community is starting up a new First Thursdays Community Dance series this fall. The series kicks off with a dance on Thursday October 6, from 6:30 to 9:30 at the VFW Hall (630 Hood St. NE), with music by the Pringle Creek Band (Dennis Rothrock, Louise Rothrock, Shawn Morford, and Jeff Graham) and calling by Jana Rygas.  Masks will be required and vaccinations recommended.  We hope to create a welcoming atmosphere for both new and experienced dancers, with circles, squares, and contras designed to foster success and fun for all.  Future dances will be November 3 and December 1.  For more info contact salemfolklore@gmail.com.

    After an interminable 2.5 year hiatus, Set to Music ECD is finally relaunching with a limited series of once-a-month dance parties!

    Our Saturday night series at Fulton Hall continues! The Hat Band will play. They are Syd Newell (fiddle) and Jon Neff (guitar, effects). All folks must be vaxxed, boosted, and masked.  Laurel Thomas will call using the terms Larks & Robins.
    Event registration is no longer required, but if you have not been to a PCDC event this year, you can help expedite the entry process by filling out our contact tracing form!
    We have a new start time for 2022: 7 pm for newcomer/refresher lesson, 7:30 pm for dancing.

    The Engine Room will play; George Marshall from Massachusetts will call. All folks must be vaxxed, boosted, and masked.

Featuring Noah VanNorstrand (Great Bear, Buddy System), Kelsey Wells (Turnip the Beet), and Alex Sturbaum (Countercurrent), the Engine Room will lay down a driving, nonstop groove that is sure to get you moving.”
