Contra Remix is back, with caller and DJ Noah Grunzweig!
This is a queer loving space that supports the expression, exploration, and rejection of gender & sex identities. The terms used to identify partnered positioning in our dance are Larks and Robins.
Community welcome and newcomers' lesson at 6:30; dance 7-10

Countercurrent will host a special MONDAY dance in CORVALLIS to celebrate the release of their new CD! The band includes Alex Sturbaum (guitar, accordion, vocals) and Brian Lindsay (fiddle, banjo, foot percussion, vocals). Pennsylvania caller Michael Karcher [formerly of Seattle] will call dances using gender-neutral terms.
Masks will be required at this particular dance, for the safety and comfort of the musicians and callers, and due to the likelihood of dancers attending from out of town. Thank you for helping to keep our dance community safely dancing! The Salem Folklore Community continues their First Thursdays Community Dance series in 2023. They will hold their next dance from 6:30 to 9:00 at the VFW Hall (630 Hood St. NE). Masks and vaccinations recommended, but not required. They hope to create a welcoming atmosphere for both new and experienced dancers, with circles, squares, and contras designed to foster success and fun for all.
Shell Stowell will call. The Pringle Creek band will play.
Admission is on a sliding scale, $5-10 per person, cash only at the door.

MASK Required Dance
Per PCDC Guidelines: Vaccinations/boosters are no longer being verified and new attendees no longer have to compete a waiver. Well-fitting masks are required for all, except the caller and musicians when they are on the stage.
Dancing starts at 7:30.
Newcomers are always welcome. We waive the admission fee the first time you attend. An introductory session is available at 7:15 upon request.
No street shoes permitted beyond entryway. Only clean soled shoes permitted on the dance floor.
No partner required
Admission: Sliding Scale. Pay what you can. Recommended range $7.00 - $15.00
