    SALEM Community Dance: The Pringle Creek Band w/Jana Rygas

    The Salem Folklore Community is starting up a new First Thursdays Community Dance series this fall. The series kicks off with a dance on Thursday October 6, from 6:30 to 9:30 at the VFW Hall (630 Hood St. NE), with music by the Pringle Creek Band (Dennis Rothrock, Louise Rothrock, Shawn Morford, and Jeff Graham) and calling by Jana Rygas.  Masks will be required and vaccinations recommended.  We hope to create a welcoming atmosphere for both new and experienced dancers, with circles, squares, and contras designed to foster success and fun for all.  Future dances will be November 3 and December 1.  For more info contact salemfolklore@gmail.com.

    As Kim and Christine retire from their years of volunteering for Portland Country Dance Community, they leave us with a huge legacy of contributions and provide a stellar example of folks who step up to do the work of running an organization and moving it forward.

    PCDC invites you to this occasion of appreciation

    Wear something red!

    Bring cards, pictures, memorabilia. They will be collected and preserved in a scrapbook commemorating this occasion.

    Entertain Kim and Christine with your stories of contra dance. Such as:

    • The very first time you went contra dancing
    • A memorable experience at a dance
    • An amusing episode associated with either dance or the Appleberrys

    Grande finale waltz to end

    This is a PCDC event. All guests must abide by PCDC Covid protocols including showing proof of vaccine and booster (if this is your first PCDC event) and wearing a mask indoors at all times.
