Once per quarter we'll gather for a community jam session. Tunes will be played by ear from the common contra dance repertoire. For recordings of tunes taught at past 2nd Thursday Tune Teaching sessions, see:
If you are interested in learning more tunes by ear, the Contra Tune Teaching Sessions are FREE and meet the 2nd Thursday of the month. Tunes are taught by George Penk or Betsy Branch, alternating between SW and SE Portland. The focus is on developing a common repertoire to play by ear at 5th Saturday Open Band and at community jam sessions. The repeated monthly schedule through Spring is:

Dancing starts at 7:30.
Newcomers are always welcome. We waive the admission fee the first time you attend. An introductory session is available at 7:15 upon request.
No street shoes permitted beyond entryway. Only clean soled shoes permitted on the dance floor.
No partner required
Admission: Sliding Scale. Pay what you can. Recommended range $7.00 - $20.00

Our Saturday night series at Fulton Hall continues! The Euphemists (Dave Goldman, Alan Snyder, Kaye Blesener, Greg Martin, and Stephanie Shea) will make music for us. Gordy Euler will call dances using gender-neutral terms.
Covid precautions are suspended indefinitely! We will continue to monitor potential exposures at PCDC events and adjust policies as needed. Refer to the PCDC Covid policy for details.
