By emailed vote on July 15, PCDC board approved this motion “Pcdc shall provide after $500 and matching funds to the band Contra Dance community. For every dollar raised by the Bend community, PCDC will donate a dollar, with the full amount donated by PCDC not to exceed $500”
Bank balances are good, higher than normal.
Vic and Tarka are discontinuing the Hillsboro dance.
Three individual grants were approved.
Oaks Park is requesting additional liability insurance for all performers at the English ball. Upon investigating this request with our insurance carriers we have come to understand that the only performers covered by our liability insurance are those who are also PCDC members. There was a discussion about how to move forward with this new understanding. The board created a new policy to inform performers that they are not covered by our liability insurance unless they are PCDC members, and to offer a free PCDC membership to any performer who requests it.
The annual picnic was a great success with about 75 people attending.
The Pcdc board voted to adopt a community development grants policy.
The board voted to adopt the community development budget put together by treasurer Rick Kimball.
Contra Committee report: Tamara Mattice was elected treasurer of the Contra Committee and confirmed by PCDC treasurer Rick Kimball. Betsy Dayna has resigned from the committee. Matt Gimpelevich has joined the committee. Megaband rehearsals will likely be at the Polish Hall next year, PSU is confirmed for this year and next year’s Megaband events.
English committee report: average attendance is 35. Every fifth Friday will be a community calling night. English ball registration opened in July. There are currently 43 registered for the ball, hoping for 100, planning for 80. The band is Fine Companions, the caller is Laura Hatch.
Northwest passage report: Northwest passage is on track, happening in one and a half weeks. The committee expects to lose $2,000 this year. Full staff is hired for next year.
Raindance report: raindance is happening April 24-26. Registration begins January 1. Bands are String Rays and Stove Dragon, callers are Lisa Greenleaf, Alex Deis-Lauby.
