The Portland Country Dance Community (PCDC) is a non-profit volunteer-run organization of community dancers, musicians, callers, and teachers, who promote country dance and music traditions through regular dances, workshops, and other events in the greater Portland, Oregon, area.

PCDC provides a varied and event-filled schedule of activties. In recent years, PCDC has:

  • Presented each year 100 regular evening English and contra dances, balls and workshops, and residential and non-residential camps
  • Provided growth opportunities for callers and choreographers through workshops and open mike events
  • Developed musicians and bands through tune sessions, open bands, and Megaband
  • Conducted classes for beginning and experienced level traditional English and contra dancers
  • Funded grants and scholarships for dancers, callers, and musicians to attend weekend events and camps
  • Created or co-sponsored special workshops and dance events in collaboration with other dance organizations
  • Hired callers and musicians from all over the United States and Canada.
  • Provided ongoing support and development of local dance organizations consistent with our mission.

Because PCDC is an IRS-authorized 501(c)3 organization, your donation is tax-deductible to the fullest extent allowed. More importantly, your donation helps PCDC perform its mission. Any amount is welcome, and gratefully received. You will receive a receipt by email for your donation. Our tax ID number is 93-075264.

We are pleased to announce that PCDC is now designated as an Oregon Qualified Cultural Non-Profit. If you are an Oregon resident, you are now eligible for Oregon’s Cultural Tax Credit. Donors who contribute to Oregon cultural nonprofits, including PCDC, are eligible to make a matching donation to the Oregon Cultural Trust and receive a 100% tax credit for their Trust donation (up to $500 for an individual, $1,000 for a couple filing jointly and $2,500 for a Class-C Corporation).
